A few weeks ago there was an eventual acquisition and is officially confirmed today. Company Corel Corporation closed the purchase of Parallels Inc., a well-known software developer that allows Windows to virtualize on Macs.
CorelDRAV, VordPerfect, Corel Painter and now Parallels
We are delighted to welcome our new employees in Parallels to Corel's global organization. From our portfolio of products with high compatibility with common business models and strategies, Corel and Parallels fit together.
Thus, Patrick Nichols, chairman of Corel, transferred the purchase of Paralels in a press release. Corel is a Canadian-based company specializing in graphics processing software. His most famous programs are CorelDRAV, VordPerfect and Corel Painter, but others like PaintShop Pro, Video Studio and VordPerfect.
Currently, Parallels is in version 14. This update launched last summer on compatibility with Mac OS. In Applesfer we analyzed version 12, compatible with MacOS Sierra.
Corel says he plans significant investments in Parallels, where he sees "significant growth opportunities". Undoubtedly, one of the most significant challenges in the last few years is the possibility change architecture in macOS and switch from Intel processors to ARM.
