Seattle / Cupertino, California (APA / Reuters) – Amazon expands the offer of Apple products. Shortly before the start of the Christmas business, two US technology rivals agreed to expand their pre-limited cooperation. The world's largest retailer announced on Friday that it will sell the latest versions of iPhones, iPads, Apple Vatch and other devices in the US, Europe, Japan and India in the coming weeks.
Until now, Amazon offers only a limited range of Apple products such as Macs and beats the Beats brand. However, it is not included in the new offer, Apple's HomePod streaming speaker, which competes with Amazon's online partner Echo and Alec's voice service.
Amazon, Apple and other names of American technologies, such as Google, have little co-operation due to their competitive offerings of devices and services. However, Amazon and Apple have now overcome these differences in order to increase sales in key retail sales this year. The new partnership also shows that the market power of Amazon continues to grow in importance for top brands such as Apple and Nike, which are long resistant to distributing their products through an online retailer.
At the same time, Amazon is more difficult against counterfeiting branded products. In addition, from January 4, Amazon will remove the independent Apple products from its offer, which are not approved by the iPhone manufacturer for sale. Nevertheless, users should still be able to buy accessories without brands – like headphones – in an online store, which is compatible with Apple devices.
