In the first block of the Rooppur nuclear power plant in Pabna, there is a long-awaited nuclear reactor, a pressure vessel of a nuclear reactor. It’s called the heart of a nuclear power plant. It was opened by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina via video conference from Ganobhaban on Sunday at 11am.

According to the Rooppur nuclear power plant, the pressurized reactor vessel for the first block of the Rooppur nuclear power plant arrived in the country in October last year after crossing 14,000 kilometers of water from Russia. According to the data of the Russian company Rosatom, the weight of the nuclear reactor is 333.06 tons. The reactor crossed the Black Sea and the Suez Canal and reached the port of Mongla. From there it is taken by boat to Rooppur through the river Padma to Pakshi in Ishvardia.
In the 2008 election manifesto, the Awami League promised to implement the project. In 2010, a framework agreement on the peaceful use of nuclear energy was reached with Russia. In the same year, the National Assembly adopted a proposal for the construction of the Rooppur nuclear power plant. In 2012, the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Regulatory Act was passed. In 2013, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina opened the first phase of the power plant. Then, step by step, the project will now see the light of day.
