This is the World Diaspora Day, and diabetes Rouin-Noranda wants to demystify this chronic illness.
Type 1 diabetes causes pancreas, which does not provide enough insulin to circulate glucose, that is, sugar, in the blood.
People who have it must therefore inject several times a day. Diagnosed in childhood or early adulthood.
Type 2 diabetes develops in adulthood due to bad habits of life, such as poor nutrition, lack of exercise or socioeconomic factors.
Diabetes Administrator Rouin-Noranda, Anne-Marie Trepanier, is living with type 1 diabetes for 23 years.
She sees her illness as a message to take care of her.
"The more we eat, the more we move, the easier it is to control the state of life. Of course, insulin is always the number one solution." "It brings about rigor, every day, we have to follow several times a day with the use of sugar, insulin, and drugs."
– Anne-Marie Trepanier
Do as many people as possible
Diabetes Rouin-Noranda has 240 members. The organization also offers support services, conferences and diabetes camps in the region.
Anne-Marie Trepanier expects a baby in the coming months, a severe pregnancy that requires even greater rigor to control her diabetes.
A young woman adds that the World Day also serves to raise awareness.
"We really want to inform them about the disease, to do them as much as possible, because the more we talk about it, the more people will be aware of this disease, [ils] can take care of them. We are happy enough, in the region, that we are well surrounded by the best teams. "
– Anne-Marie Trepanier
To mark the day, Rouin-Noranda diabetes invites you to wear blue to support the cause and share a photo about you on social networks using hashtag # diabeteRN. Different awards are for grabs.
World Diaspora Day is celebrated on November 14 each year as a gift to Frederick Banting, a scientist who discovered insulin.
Two days of shooting were planned for the following days on November 16 in the Prokim Cote, Goulet and Savard pharmacies in the center of Rouen-Noranda and on November 19th at Brunet Pharmacy in Rouand.
