UCI suspended Andre Cardoso (34 years) in the next four seasons after a positive EPO test.
Andre Cardoso was tested positively for EPO van competition in June 2017, just before the Tour de France, where his leader at Trek-Segafred Alberto Contador counted on his help in winning. His team then replaced Haimar Zubeldia. The UCI, which ruled on Thursday, suspended the driver for four years. The final judgment was also delayed, as the analysis of sample B was sought by the participant "Unpredictable". The authority specifies that it will publicly announce the reasons for the imposed sanctions.
Thus removed from the package until June 2021, Cardoso, who will be 37 years old, is likely to never run. The former resident of the Caja Rural, Cannondale and Trek-Segafredo teams finished in the top 25 of the seven Grand Tour tournaments in which he participated (including the 14th place on Giro 2016), without ever having won the stage.
