Refusal of ecology at the price of facts

Does the defense of liberalism demand to suppress the demand for the environmental positioning of the MR? Certainly not from a theoretical point of view. Indeed, there is no contradiction and a priori between liberalism and the number of environmental policies.

The poor result of the MR list in the municipal elections on 14 October sparked a dual appeal among the elected officials and sympathizers of this party.

Some wanted to put more social liberalism in the seat, others see that they are adopting green liberalism. This second call is not for everyone's taste, judging by the karate blanc "Is radical ecology the future of MR?"published by Drie Godefridi at L & # 39; Echo on October 19. This speaker is known for his defense of" pure jus "liberalism, his climatological skepticism, the defense of nuclear energy and his criticism of the IPCC.

Liberalism and ecology

Does the defense of liberalism demand to suppress the demand for the environmental positioning of the MR? Certainly not from a theoretical point of view. Indeed, there is no contradiction and a priori between liberalism and the number of environmental policies.

The most striking example is the introduction of a carbon tax, which would make carbon emissions more responsible. In the jargon of economists pollution is the source of negative externalities that would allow such a tax to be internalized. This tax, far from being opposed to liberalism, would contribute to the efficiency of the economic market system.

Liberalism does not mean dictating to the smart merchants corporation in view of the change that requires the maintenance of parking spaces in one place or another.

Liberalism does not prohibit any public intervention or taxation. And to return to the field of communal skills, it can be very well liberalized and welcomed by private initiative while it is established that the public space leaves too much of a part – in fact, too ugly – cars.

Liberalism does not mean dictating to the smart merchants corporation in view of the change that requires the maintenance of parking spaces in one place or another.

Against the truth

The defense of liberalism requires even less confidence in the untruths. We must not have the same conception of what is left and ecology to see the figure of Mrs. Marghem, according to the authors, among the examples of "MR proxies on the left and ecologists have claimed".

If the ecological effects of the North European countries are much better than ours, it is likely that the justice and center parties have an ecological positioning.

In addition, the strong fact that the MR ended with the closure of nuclear power plants in 2025 confirms at the same time that "of all true and central parties in Europe, MR is the most advanced on the topic of ecologyThis is another surprising claim: while the ecological effects of the countries of Northern Europe are much better than ours, it is likely that the right and center parties have a more ecological positioning. Is not it a right-wing chancellor that made nuclear power to Germany?

Nuclear argument

The columnist is a solid supporter of the expansion of nuclear power plants to provide cheap electricity. It is difficult to understand the coherence between this argument and the fact that in Belgium, a country that is still strongly founded "electricity is already the most expensive in Europe".

This claim is incorrect. Based on the latest information published by Eurostat, the price of electricity for residential use is higher in Germany and Denmark, the country, and then, by chance, whose economy operates relatively well.

For non-standard use, the truth is still far away because the price in Belgium is lower than the EU average and the average in the eurozone.

In a strange inversion of logic, Mr. Godefridi concludes his paragraph on the expansion of nuclear power plants, causing the risk of "black" electricity this winter. This ignores the fact that this risk stems precisely from "unavailability" of nuclear power plants.

We understand the strategy at work: to reject the idea that MR will win to adopt an ecological program, Mr. Godefri is called for "Extreme ecological positioning MRThis would be a laugh if the challenges of climate change and biodiversity are not so dramatic.
