The endemic control center of the municipal health department held the fourth phase of the fourth LIRA and LIA from 2018 on October 22-26, which is a quick index survey of Aedes aegipti and Aedes albopictus (LIRAa) and Amostral Indek Survei (LIA), which methodologies for identifying and mapping the presence of mosquito-borne mosquitoes and other diseases in the municipality, an initiative encouraged by the Ministry of Health.

In this fourth phase, the number of real estate searched by teams of endemic agents in the city amounted to 1,027, of which 29 were detected Aedes Aegipti, which corresponds to a mammal infestation index of 2.82%.

Also, according to the report presented by the sector, 33 districts were surveyed, out of which 11 presented positive results. The survey also reveals the dominant deposits, which are the locations where the presence of mosquito epidemics is more frequent. These are jars or jars with water, a glass of pots, fountains in general, ornamental fountains and building materials. The number of immovables with the presence of Aedes albopictus was 8, and the rate of mosquito infestation was 0.78%.

LIA results showed rural areas with the presence of a vector, when 936 properties were examined, 11 of which had Aedes aegipti, which means an infestation index of 1.17%. Ten locations were investigated and four had positive results for mosquitoes. In the rural area, bowls or jars with water, bowls with pots, drinking fountains, ornamental fountains and construction materials, as well as tires and other rollers, which, according to Cosme dos Santos, can be removed. Still in the report, ten estates were present in Aedes albopictus, which means an infestation rate of 1.07%.

Cosme dos Santos also said that as an anti-vector strategy, the Endemic Control Center maintains its day-to-day operation of focal treatment and elimination of deposits. Polls show the most critical areas where the work is done with greater emphasis, working on all blocks of the area where the results were positive with the use of larvids and mechanical control, which is the elimination of deposits, an action that starts immediately after the results of LIRA and LIA. The coordinator also said that, according to several infectious diseases in the country, the next year has a great chance of having a dengue epidemic since the rain at the end of 2018 was higher than in previous years, the dengue seasonal disease and studies show that epidemics occur every two years .
