Leading German financial institutions Deutsche Bank and Commerzbank are launching talks on a possible merger, the DPA reports, citing the source owner.
Between these two investments are talks about plans for joining several months. Earlier, the German government said authorities were "open to economically viable options" in the banking sphere.
Deutsche Bank is the largest financial institution in Germany and one of the most important transnational banks. It has offices in over 70 countries.
Commerzbank is the fourth largest asset bank in Germany. It serves more than 18 million users.
