Please read this before buying 4K TV for Black Friday or any sales event –

Stephan Jukic – November 23, 2018

There are lots of truly good 4K TV offers available before, during and even a few days immediately after this year's Black Friday sale. Here at 4K.com, we are fired by those we are thinking of offering what are sincere strong discounts for what we professionally consider as authentically good TVs. Many of them are listed at the bottom of this message. However, this creature and filtering do not apply to every 4K TV discount, and for many products that you will see how to sell, or discount prices are not really realistic as they were made, or, worse, the TVs offered are not nearly as good as good as it is assumed they are despite their lower prices. Of course, there are also technical issues to consider when choosing the right TV for your needs.

To delete some of the potential buyers in connection with these issues and to help you make sure that you spend every dollar of your UHD TV budget on something that you really appreciate for a long time, we've put together these tips keys that you really need to know if you're not completely familiar with what you want to look for when buying your own 4K TV. Let's get started.

Numbers to connect numbers

Most of today's 4K brand name from this year or any new year comes with highly standardized numbers and types of connectivity connectors, and these are more than enough for virtually any normal external device that you need to connect. The common form on most of these televisions consists of the following:

  • 4 HDMI ports
  • 3 USB ports
  • 1 Digital optical audio output
  • 1 Analogue audio output of 3.5 mm
  • 1 Tuner (cable / ant) port
  • 1 Ethernet port

They can be slightly different, with some televisions having only two USB ports or having three of them, but with the type 2.0 rather than the more powerful 3.0 type. Other TVs may be missing a tuner or an analog audio connection. The rest (pretty little) do not have a tuner. Another important thing may be the nature of HDMI ports. The best 4K TVs will have a full 4K HDR throughput in all four of them, while some will only offer a feature in a couple of their HDMI sockets. The bottom line here is that this is something you should really check before buying any specific TV, because if you need an additional USB port or full 4K HDR pass through all four HDMI ports, and if you do not have them, your boomer will be after I've already pulled your new TV out and pulled it out.

Go for HDR

HDR or high dynamic range is still not mastered in most of today's digital content, but the presence is constantly growing and you can be 100% sure it will become almost universal in most 4K video sources and console games sooner rather than later. We'll even begin to see a lot of HDR formatting for ordinary HD television programs in a few years. For this reason, and because HDR really looks good, when it's shown on a TV capable of doing so, you really should get a TV that is really capable of making it.

Fortunately, most of today's newer 4K televisions come with at least some kind of HDR display, and this applies to virtually all budget TV models from 2017. This feature will become better and more common in all ultra-HD televisions down the road, so you can now Go to it. Superb and ultra-premium 4K HDRs offer superior dynamic range through better pixel brightness, enhanced contrast capability and much richer color performance, but as we have said, and cheaper models deliver some of these key aspects of HDR.

Check the refresh rate

Virtually all 4K televisions sold in North America have either a domestic 120Hz refresh rate or a 60Hz refresh rate built into their screens. All the other numbers you see are just excitement for the movement interpolation that artificially "improves" these domestic rates of refreshment. But even with these enhanced numbers, things are going so far, so for a 4K TV that claims to improve motion at 240Hz, it actually offers a home 120Hz panel and for televisions that offer a 120Hz improvement, what you really get is 60Hz refreshment.

Now, both TVs with both 60Hz and 120Hz refresh rate will display perfectly well for most TV content, but a TV-enhanced 120Hz revamp refresh will provide particularly superior motion control and blurry motion control for streaming, glitzy, broadcasting or hard drive contents. The difference is not huge, but it's important if you are a big fan of sports shows and lots of action movies. If this is the case and you want to keep these contents really well, we definitely recommend a TV with 120 Hz 4K, even though it's more expensive.

Do not worry about smart TV

Smart TV platforms are now in almost all 4K televisions. This was not a strict case in the old days of 2014, when the oldest mainstream models came out, but it's now standard. However, not all smart platforms are created equally, and some brands, such as Samsung, offer sharply poorer functionality and access to content applications than others.

However, this is not at all easy simply because, regardless of the smart 4K TV platform, you can always purchase an external streaming media stick or set-top flank that will be used over the source platform on the TV itself. Today there are a lot of their pile, and some like Rokua, with the Roku TV platform inside them, come with their absolutely excellent application / content of smart TV content. They are also pretty cheap, with Amazon Fire 4K TV stick that costs less than $ 50 and really good streaming media like Roku Ultra is currently selling (for Black Friday just how much we know) for just $ 49.99.

In other words, never allow the smart functionality of 4K TV to decide whether to buy that TV. If the TV is excellent but has a great platform, take it, and if it's a great TV with a great platform, forget it and buy yourself a better TV if it fits into your budget, smart functionality can be improved later.

Avoid everything that is too cheap at a price

There are some really good, really affordable 4K televisions out there and can be incredibly cheap. In fact, some of the great black Friday at the bottom of this post cover several of these models at affordable fantastic prices. However, there is a limit to this and the reputation of the brand has a role to play.

In basic terms, there are good TVs that are cheaper, and there are also TVs that are just cheap because they are really cheap. Avoid them even if you think that you are saving a lot of money, because the dollar from your purchase price will cost you a lot when the TV fails for you for several months or falls you with image quality so bad that even 4K resolution can "Do not keep it.

A good basic rule that should be followed here (even if it seems a little frustrating) is that brands with a reputation for quality hold the brand name at the cost of the budget. Our TV reviews on this site and our main TV rating page provide some good guidance on this. Another good rule is not to buy 4K televisions that cost less than $ 300. Almost all of them are either used or are older for the latest standards in the case of brand models or just come from brands that do not provide reasonable performance almost the same as they promise.

Take care of the used / refurbished 4K televisions

As a result of tips above this, we recommend that you take care of seemingly incredible jobs on 4K televisions that are actually selling cheap because they are using models that have been restored. This rule is what needs some quick qualifications. If you give the TV a solid warranty of at least 1 year from the dealer itself, then it could still be enough as a refurbished model. It's covered in problems at all. However, make sure that this is the case before the purchase, because without warranty, the 4K TV used is a bad idea, no matter how much discount you get for it. A good example of reliable refurbished models would be those you often see being offered on Amazon and supported by a retailer with a 1 year warranty. They are often cheaper than their new version and are also a fair bet.

Now that you've gone through these key tips, here are some of our curated and sincere excellent Black Fridays deals on the main 4K televisions and electronics. All the following offer offers high quality televisions and other electronics at prices that really mean high value for your money.
