Ford raises 874,000 vehicles in North America due to a fire hazard

US car maker Ford announced Friday the withdrawal of 874,000 vehicles in the United States and Canada due to the risk of fire affecting two brand models.

These are models of the F-150 and Super Duti trucks manufactured in the United States between 2014 and 2018 and equipped with a system for heating engine blocks.

The total number of withdrawals is 874,000 cars, 410,289 in the United States and 463,793 in Canada, a group headquartered in Michigan announced.

The risk, according to the manufacturer, is corrosion and damage to the block heaters due to the risk of water penetration and contaminating material through the power cable.

The manufacturer states that, in his knowledge, there were three fires in some of these vehicles, but until now no accidents or injuries have been reported.

Danger occurs only when the vehicle is parked and the power supply cable of the heating block is connected to a socket, says the group.
