The Dominican health authorities are on alert for cases of rabies

Listin Diario, Minister of Health, Raphael Sanchez, said that all necessary measures had been taken to avoid more people being affected and denied that there was a major epidemic in Pedernales.

He explained that active epidemiological surveillance, home-to-home monitoring, vaccination campaigns were conducted, as vaccines were available and he assured that public health was followed by the established protocol.

At this moment, there is a five year hospitalized child from the aforementioned province, who in the left hand bit the dog that only four days ago had fever, hallucinations, hydrophobia and aerophobia, which is why it was received.

Last Friday, in Reid Cabral, a child under six years of age died of a rabies virus after he bitten a dog seven months ago.

In this case, there are three deaths in this country due to this disease.
