Japanese ibiden closes its particle filter plant in Courtenai (Loiret)

Orleans, November 15, 2018 The Japanese group "Ibiden" announced on Thursday its decision to close the particle filtering plant for the automotive industry, which employs 320 employees in Courtenai (Loiret), we learned from the regional council.

Opened in 2001, the company already in 2016 escaped from the project of relocation in Hungary through the mobilization of employees who succeeded in postponing the departure by 2020.

The chairman of the regional council, Francois Bonneau (PS), condemned the statement "no site search for this site is foreseen, although restructuring options should be explored, especially for the production of new generation filters".

It is also required that Ibiden recover a grant of 68,000 euros approved in 2014 in exchange for maintenance work over 5 years.

Senator Jean-Pierre Sueur (PS), for his part, announced that he had taken the prime position of the company.


Two years ago, the unions estimated the necessary investment to upgrade the four production lines of the factory to 50 million euros. But the Japanese manufacturer of equipment preferred to entrust the production of new high-porosity filters at its Hungarian location, which employs more than 2,800 people.
