HCL Tech will employ over 20,000 graduates this year

IT services company HCL Technologies plans to hire about 20,000-22,000 fresh graduates this year, and wants to hire 30,000 fresh students next year, management said Thursday.

The Noida-based company also said it has started encouraging senior managers to come to office at least twice a week, and depending on the requirements, each activity encourages people to come once a week.

“We expect momentum to increase by the end of this calendar year. That is the policy we have at the moment,” said HCL Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) Apparao.

The net increase in the number of employees was the highest with 11,135 during the September quarter in the last six years. Its total number of employees reached 1.87,634 at the end of the second quarter.

Infosis has already announced it is expanding its refresher recruitment program when there has been a sharp jump in exhaustion levels. The Bengaluru-based IT company said it plans to hire 45,000 graduates at this fiscal level compared to an earlier target of 35,000.

HCL Tech CEO Vijayakumar said that people who return to work will not affect the digitalization process because it is more related to business transformation.

The company introduced allowances for younger management after nine months, starting in July. The increase ranged from 7-8% for employees at sea and 3-4.5% on the spot.

For senior management, the increase was introduced on October 1.

The company announced that it expects revenue growth from double-digit numbers in the constant currency for the financial year 2022. Consolidated operating income in the second quarter increased by 11% to 20,655 crore from 18,594 crore in the corresponding quarter of 2020-21.

HCL Tech reported net income from 3,259 crore in the reporting period and declared a temporary dividend of 10 per share.
