The S&P BSE Sensek was around 49,390 levels, down 200 points, and the Nifti50 index was down 14,550 points. HDFC, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Dr Reddy’s and Tech Mahindra fell 1 percent.
Bharti Airtel, on the other hand, rose 5 percent after MSCI said it would decide to increase Bharti Airtel’s weight during its upcoming February review of the index.
HCL Technologies also cut 2 percent in early business despite recording a 34.8 percent year-on-year jump in consolidated net profit to 3,969 kroner for the December 2020 quarter (FY2021). MORE
Nifti’s sector indices traded in the red, and the Nifti IT index, down 1 percent, topped the list of losers.
In the broader markets, the S&P BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices traded 0.5 percent, each declining.
