Centenary of Mohammed Shahzad and fine bowler by captain Gulbadin Naiba helped Afghanistan to equalize a two-match series against Ireland on Tuesday in the second ODI game.
Ireland's James McCollum's fight did not help Ireland. He fell to 3 off 16. Andrev Balbirnie and Paul Stirling got a pot with a 48-run stand.
Balbirni's passage led to nodding while Ireland quickly fell to 119 for 6 of 77 for 1. Stirling scored half a century but failed to continue as Ireland lost momentum really quickly and never recovered from the collapse.
Earlier in the day, Shahzad made his intentions quite clear as he lowered the track and shattered the border on the first ball.
Noor Ali Zadran did not last long and was fired for 5 before Rahmat Shah and Shahzad built a platform with a 150-run stand for the second pass. The opener has reached half an age of 40 balls while the visitors have passed 100 in 18 kilometers.
From 175 for 1, Afghanistan dropped to 212 for 5, but it was supported by Hashmatullah Shahidi (47) and Najibullah Zadran, who ended up losing 66 and raised the side when they really needed them.
Afghanistan was the first ODI in Ireland with 72 runs.
