Tributes have been paid to a talented sports star who has lost a life of over 18 years.
Eoin Birne from Hackettstown to Carlow passed away on Saturday.
A six-year-old student was a passionate sports fan who played GAA, football and a chicken.
His team at GAA said: "Clonmore GFC is in sadness after the death of one of our best young players Eoina Birnea today. Eoin was at the center of attention on our winning team in 2017 and played for our U19 last Friday.
"The club extends the deepest sympathy for the families of Birne & McCarnei." Eoin can rest peace. "
Eoin's football side also expressed respect: "Everyone in the Parkville United Football Club wants to send their condolences to the families of Birne and McCarney on the heart and devastating passage of Eoin Birne today.
"Eoin was a Parkville player, winning trophies at levels U14, U16 and U18, which was part of our men's premiere, was a passionate GAA player and a qualified boxer.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with his family."
His high school Colaiste Eoin honored his students.
"We were shocked and deeply saddened when six-year-old Eoin Birne passed.
"A good young man who has contributed greatly to the entire school community. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family."
