MakK AI (formerly MediMatch, Tel Aviv, Israel) received an approval for FDA 510 (k) for Accipio, a software for artificial intelligence that can quickly detect brain computed tomography (CT).
The software medical device is designed to be acutely sensitive to the presence of intracranial bleeding during scanning and warns the doctor when bleeding is detected. The tool can help provide easier services to physicians and emergency healthcare institutions from a large number of cases, thus quickly diagnosing patients for the most urgent need.
Accipio's ability to detect suspicions about brain blood was quickly reversed. The potential impact is enormous: the rescue of only one patient from an acute stroke in 13,000 hospitals in the United States and Europe would bring about $ 2 billion in savings per year.
There are plans to use the software in mobile impact units. This would allow staff to distinguish between ischemic and haemorrhagic strokes and to patients who dissolve blood-soluble medicines while traveling to the hospital.
