Netanyahu meets with heads of regional councils from the south

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon, Interior Minister Arieh Deri, Chief of Staff of the IDF General Lieutenant Colonel. Gadi Eizenkot and head of the Southern Command of IDF Herzi Halevi met with heads of local government from the cabinet in Gaza in the office of the Prime Minister in Jerusalem on Thursday evening.

The meeting was attended by Sdot Negeva Regional Councilor Tamir Idan, Mayor Sderot Alon Davidi, Regional Councilor Eshkol Gadi Iarkoni, Head of the Regional Council Merchavim Shai Hajaj, Head of the Hof Ashkelon Council Iair Farjun and his successor Ofir Liebstein.

During the talks, the Prime Minister, Chief of Staff and Chief of the Southern Command, presented military efforts against terror from Gaza.

In addition, the discussion focused on the promotion of endurance programs for Israeli communities located near Gaza for the period 2019-2020, in the amount of 500 million shekels.

The program that will be submitted to the Government in the coming weeks will include the strengthening of emergency medical care, non-formal education, social welfare services, and provide grants to government authorities to help them in their current functioning. In addition, the program will provide additional quotas for farmers in the region, subsidies for day centers and much more.
