Broadvaia's original production was opened in 1982 at Broadway Theater Winter Garden, where it lasted 7,485 performances and 18 years. CATS was originally created on Broadway by Cameron Mackintosh, The Realli Useful Compani Limited, David Geffen and The Shubert Organization.

CATS returned to Broadway in 2016 in a staggering revival in Teil Neil Simon. The preview of the show began on Thursday, July 14, 2016 and officially opened on Sunday, July 31, 2016. CATS held its final appearance on Saturday, December 30, 2017, after 16 reviews and 593 regular appearances.

The creative team for the new CATS production includes John Napier (Scenic & Costume Design), Natasha Katz (Lighting Design), Mick Potter (Sound Design), choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler, based on original choreography by Gillian Linne, Trevor Nunn.

Since its worldwide premiere, CATS has been presented in over 30 countries, translated into 15 languages, and seen by more than 73 million people around the world. Initially directed by Trevor Nunn with choreography and associate Gillian Linne, scenic and costume design by John Napi, David Hersi's lighting design and Abe Jacoba sound design, CATS was opened in West End in 1981. Music debut at Broadway in 1982 where he won seven Tony Awards, including the Best Music Album. Both original recordings in London and Broadway won the Best Cast Album Grammy Awards. CATS hits the song "Memoria" featuring over 150 artists from Barbra Streisand and Johnny Mathis for Liberace and Barry Manilov. Tony Avard Best Musical has held the title of the longest musical in Broadway's history, while in 2006 he did not exceed Lloyd Uberber's Fantom from the opera. Broadvaia's original production was closed on September 10, 2000 and is currently the fourth longest Broadway show ever. This is the first tour of the first experience of reviving a ship musician.

The first, live action movie adaptation of CATS, produced by Universal Pictures and Vorking Title, will open on December 20, 2019.

The revival of CATS is produced by The Shubert Organization, James L. Nederlander, The Realli Useful Group and Cameron Mackintosh.
