The club's management reports that since November 5, the head coach of the new "Valga-Valke" will become 42-year-old Mihail Karpenko, the current head coach of Kazakhstan, who began his coach career in 1997.
In the previous season (2017-2018), Karpenko led the VTB Unitari League as head coach at the Astana basketball club, and has also proven earlier in training both Russian and Kazakh clubs.
"Valga-Valka started the season for the basketball team and must admit that former head coach A. Misum failed to consolidate the team to fully realize their potential. Of course, there are objective reasons because the team finished relatively late and the time of preparation it was very short. To save this season, changes are needed, "says Vents Armands Krauklis, a public manager of the basketball club.
Club manager Robert Peterson claims that the change of trainers could break the team and win a new motivation in each game: "Life and basketball – if you do not have results, then something needs to be changed."
Liepanieks Armands Misus became head coach of the Valga-Valka club in late August, and at the tournament in Latvia and Estonia, the league's seven games with a balance of 1-6 were under his leadership.
Karpenko will be able to debut in the steering team already on Friday, November 9, at noon. 19.00 in the Valga sports hall, while the domestic match Valga-Valka will be compiled with the "Ventspils" unit.
