The production of alcohol in Latvia decreased by 14.8% in nine months,

During the nine months of this year, the quantity of alcohol produced in Latvia was reduced by 14.8%, according to indicators of the turnover of excise products collected by the State Revenue Service (SRS).

In total, in the nine months of 2018, Latvia produced 9.69 million liters of absolute alcohol, which is 1.68 million liters less than in the nine months of 2017.

In particular, the volume of ethyl alcohol produced in nine months amounted to 2.13 million liters of absolute alcohol, which is 41.5% less than in the nine months of 2017. The amount of dehydrated alcohol produced is 7.558 million liters of absolute alcohol, which is 2.2 % less than in the nine months of 2017.

The volume of ethyl alcohol imported into Latvia during the nine months amounted to 10.324 million liters of absolute alcohol, which is 8.4% less than in the nine months of 2017. Ethyl alcohol is imported from Latvia, Russia, Slovakia, Estonia, Germany, Lithuania and Sweden.

In nine months, the amount of ethyl alcohol in Latvia increased by 1.93 times or by 3.506 million liters of absolute alcohol. During the nine months, 7.277 million liters of absolute alcohol were sold, but in the nine months of 2017 – 3.77 million liters of absolute alcohol.

The amount of alcohol used in the production of alcoholic beverages during the nine months amounted to 9.621 million liters of absolute alcohol, which is 12.1% less than the amount spent in the nine months of 2017 – 10.947 million liters of absolute alcohol.

During the nine months of this year, alcohol was exported to other countries of the European Union, and alcohol was exported to 2,543 million liters of absolute alcohol, which is 3.2 times less than in the nine months of 2017.

It has already been reported that in 2017 ethyl alcohol in Latvia was produced in total 15.85 million liters of absolute alcohol, which is 60% more than in 2016, while the volume of ethyl alcohol sold in Latvia increased by 27% last year , reaching 5.936 million liters of absolute alcohol.
