In order to investigate the relationship between motherhood and childhood injuries, the team reviewed the results of 11 scientific studies, found that mother's smoking during pregnancy led to an increase of 46% at the risk of neonatal deaths. They also found that the mother smoked 10 cigarettes a day during pregnancy. An increase of 79% at risk among her children.

"Smoking mother is a public health problem, especially in developing countries, and has a strong impact on birth control," said research team leader Dr Zukson Lo.

Previous studies have shown that women who smoke during pregnancy are more likely to have children with health problems, especially low birth weight, premature birth, birth defects, and sudden infant death syndrome. These other studies suggest that smoking of a mother also affects the efficacy of newborns What are the main causes of infant mortality, as well as its negative impact on physical growth and maturity in adolescence.
