Liverpool are interested in signing Udinese midfielder Rodrigo De Paul, according to reports. If the Reds land the 19-year-old Argentine, it will take 40 million euros.
This comes from Corriere dello Sport (print, page 25, Friday, January 15, 2021). They believe Jurgen Klopp is ready to compete with Marcel Biels and Leeds United for the signing of the highly rated 26-year-old.
Udinese, however, does not want to let it go cheaply, and it is ready to withstand a large sum, as Serie A clothing vice president Stefano Campoccia made clear earlier this week.
“De Paul is a talented player and a reference point for our team,” he said.
“He is a jewel and jewels cost money. The proposals did not meet our requirements, because it does not move for less than 40 million euros. “

Inter Milan and Juventus have also been praised with interest in the former Valencia star, who has made 157 appearances in the Italian top flight since moving from Spain in 2016.
This season De Paul has scored three goals and has three assists. His club team is currently 15th in the Serie A table.
What RTK has to say
While De Paul is certainly an exciting prospect, it seems unlikely that Liverpool will invest so much in a position where there is already enough stock.
Despite the alleged inevitable exit of Gini Vijnaldum, the Reds do not have to break the replacement bank as for similar ones.
After all, Liverpool recently bought Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich to give Klopp’s midfield an additional projection of quality and unpredictability.
With all that, De Paul is not at the required level to break into Liverpool’s starting KSI. Jordan Henderson, Thiago and Fabinho would be more in the ranks even if the Argentine midfielder signed.
It is therefore difficult to see such a saga of relocation materializing into anything serious, especially when there are other positions in the detachment that need reinforcements more urgently.
Liverpool will certainly give preference to adding another central defender, as well as an additional striker if one of Klopp’s pedigree front three members goes to the summer.
