Radio presenter Robin Bailey lost her dog to cancer after “erupting in his stomach”



Breakfast radio host Robin Bailey mourns the loss of her dog from a cancerous tumor – months after marking the first anniversary of her husband Sean Pickwell’s death

She recently marked the first anniversary of the death of her second husband, Sean Pickwell.

And 16 months after the 56-year-old lost her liver cancer, radio host Robin Bailey has now said goodbye to her beloved dog.

In an emotional confession on Instagram, the 52-year-old informed her followers that Rai had passed from a cancerous tumor that “broke out in his stomach”.

“It was awful, but last night at 11.25 we had to put our big boy Rai to sleep,” she wrote in her post, which contains a series of pictures of a dog.

‘He crashed outside and we managed to take him to a 24-hour vet. A cancerous tumor broke out in his stomach and he was bleeding inside.

“One of the benefits of this lock-in is that we’ve all been home and we all need to say goodbye and hold on as he slips away.”

The mother of three added that one of her sons, 18-year-old Levin, was “crushed” by the news.

Robin is also the mother of 16-year-old Piper and 20-year-old Finn.

“They say everything is going as it should, and the vet who helped us was someone I went to school with in Sydney … she was so kind and he was in pain so it was time,” she wrote.

“The lion is crushed, like all of us, because that great beautiful soul took us through terrible traumatic times, but everyone said that we would know when he had had enough and we did it! With such a broken heart … he was one of a billion, one of those really special dogs. ‘

Rai’s death follows Robin’s first anniversary of the death of her second husband, who died of liver cancer in 2019, in September. His death came five years after her first husband, Tony Smart, tragically took his own life in September 2014.

Robin returned to the airwaves only in January 2020, joining the Australian Radio Network (ARN) breakfast show 97.3 FM.

It’s the first thing she’s done since she quit Triple M Brisbane in September to spend more time with her late spouse.
