In Mexico, in 2018, 6.8% of foreign tourism grew

The number of international tourists who arrived in Mexico at the end of September amounted to 30 million 597 thousand, which is 6.8 percent more than 28 million 629 thousand registered in the same period last year, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) and historical data Banks of Mexico (BdeM).

In the meantime, foreign exchange assets occupied by international travelers during their stay in the country amounted to 16 thousand 656 million dollars, which is 4.5 percent above 15 thousand 937 million in the period from January to September last year. Currencies during the reference period refer to the costs of international travelers with nights in the country (tourists) and no-night (hikers).

Inegi, October's body is responsible for spreading the evolution of tourism in Mexico, explained that the number of tourists who entered the country in September amounted to 2 million 909 thousand people, a decrease of 14.9 percent compared to the previous month, when revenue of 3 million 419 thousand tourists was realized.

The fall would have subsumed that August is still considered a holiday period, while September, together with October and November, is part of a quarter that is considered a low season in the year.

From July to September, slightly more than 9 million 972 thousand foreigners entered the country, an increase of 5.9% compared to the third quarter of 2017, when there were 9 million 408 revenues.

Mexico has become the sixth most visited country in the world in 2017 with 39.3 million international tourists.

Expenses for tourism

Meanwhile, Inegi announced that it had left 420,000 million Mexican tourists in September, while in August there were one million 749,000 people. Costs generated by Mexicans who traveled abroad in September, both tourists and hikers, amounted to $ 834.4 million.
