The hypnotizing geometric sequences in oil and murals paintings is a sign of the artist Carlos Merida, who through his unpublished autobiography is almost a fictional story about his personal life, travel, artistic influences and plastic work, which is compared to his passion for music, this is part of the temporary exhibition Carlos Merida Painted portrait (1891-1984).
The exhibition is a gift that paid him National Museum of Art (Munal) in Guatemala, marking the 100th anniversary of the artist's arrival in Mexico, where he captured some of his murals, such as National Museum of Anthropology, Conjunto Juarez, Curtain Cinema Manacar and Auditorium of the Aristos de Reforma Hotel.
An exhibition that will be open to the public from November 16 to March 17, 2019 is divided into two narrative nuclei: Plastic discourse, which shows the work Merida Under the influence European and American avant-garde after two trips (1910-1914 and 1927-1928); i Design, his work focuses on performing arts.

Within the Curatorial Researcher Maria Estela Duarte, the exhibition gathers 290 pieces that discuss Merida's entry into graphic, visual and stage art, including paintings in oils, serigraphies, pencil sketches, postcards, publications, photos and cuts of newspapers.
Merida was the first director of the Dance School in Mexico, where she designs sets and costumes. He has developed 11 graphic arts folders focused on the traditional clothing of Mexico and Guatemala. The exhibition is an integrated group of artists' serigraphy, following the original costumes of his and our country.
The exhibition closes with the muralistic aspect of Guatemala, with 25 panels that he created for the auditorium of the Aristos de Reforma Hotel, shaped with geometric figures in orange, gold, black and white; accompanied by acrylic sketch on cardboard. They currently belong to a private collection that lent them to Munal.
