Yesterday, on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, the Moroccan National Tourist Office continued its tour of the region of the kingdom in order to establish a regional recovery plan with tourism professionals and officials of the Regional Tourist Councils in terms of promotion. .
The truce will be short-lived. ONMT, which launched a regional marathon tour last month, has accelerated its pace. In Agadir, Adel El Fakir, accompanied by his teams, went to Bush.
The meeting was held in the region of Vilaia, and was chaired by the Valley of the Region, in the presence of the president of the region. Officials from the Agadir Regional Tourism Council were also there to work together with Office officials on actions to be taken to ensure the revitalization of the sector.
« Agadir is a tourist city to which we pay special attention. In support of the overall redevelopment of the city and region, the goal of the Office is to make it an even stronger brand by highlighting the richness of the destination. And for this we intend to establish an aggressive promotion strategy. »Explains Adel El Fakir, Director General of the Moroccan National Tourist Office.
Agadir, a tourist town par excellence, has experienced an average increase in arrivals over the last 5 years (before Covid) + 8%, while the nights were spent + 5%.
Steps French i German two leading suppliers of tourists to the Souss-Massa region remain with about 51% cumulative market share. Other markets are emerging, such as the United Kingdom with an increase in overnight stays of + 8% in 2019 compared to 2018.
The goal today is to enable the capital of Soussde to regain lost market shares. To this end, ONMT has implemented a three-point strategy:
- Make Agadir a strong coastal brand and focus on the most important source markets in this case, France, Germany and the United Kingdom.
- Integrate Taghazout into the Agadir brand to bring innovation and create new interest in the brand.
- Strengthen air connections from major sources.
As a reminder, ONMT, in partnership with RAM, already established last month 4 new direct air routes connecting Agadir with London, Brussels, Manchester and Lyon, at a rate of 2 frequencies per week for each connection.
