Cisco has added a cloud call to its Vebek Team messaging application – something that the company called a "significant step" in BroadSoft's technology integration after the end of this year comes to $ 1.9 billion.
The combination is designed to provide PBX based on the "enterprise" [private branch exchange] phone system in addition to existing messaging and document functions.
"For users, this simplifies things," said Zeus Kerravala, Founder and Chief Analyst at ZK Research. "BroadCloud Calling lets businesses benefit from PBXs and does not really use them."
Adding a call to share the content of Web Themes and messaging capabilities makes it "one UC." [unified communications] application, which was the original vision of the UC, "Kerravala said.
Earlier this year, Cisco merged its two platforms for cooperation – Vebek and Spark – in one platform: Web Teams. At that time, IDC research director Vaine Kurtzman described rebranding as "not just marketing. This is a basic shift that includes calls, meetings, video, collaboration and their devices in the rooms under their consideration is their most famous brand, Vebek," he said .
At the Cisco BroadSoft Connections event in Florida on Tuesday, Cisco also introduced a new call application that integrates with Microsoft Outlook and enterprise directories.
The Cisco Calling application allows users to make voice and video calls from mobile devices and desktop computers running iOS, Android, Windows or MacOS.
Huddle Room Hardware and Software
Cisco also discovered new devices aimed at improving space experience – citing research that claims to have more than 25 million such meeting rooms in offices around the world.
The Vebek Room Kit video conferencing device is aimed at smaller meeting rooms, adding the current range of Vebek Room Kit products.
The device is "awake" when it detects users entering the meeting room and adjusts the video to ensure that all participants are visible on the screen.
In the meantime, 55-in. Vebek Board's digital board received software updates, with access to the browser, sticky notes and interaction "capture and zoom". For larger rooms, Cisco also launched the 85-inch. screen version.
Finally, the company has indicated Vebek Share, a wireless screen sharing device that converts any TV or screen into a presentation device, linking to Web Sessions and Web Teams.
Kerravala said that hardware for meetings can often be expensive and difficult to deploy, thus limiting technology to medium and large rooms. Smaller devices should help extend the range of video conferencing tools.
"There are literally tens of millions of compartments and open spaces where there could be a TV or other screen, but nothing else," he said. "Room Kit Mini and WebEk Share make it easy to easily convert any screen into a smart space for collaboration."
