Raleigh, N.C. – With the new car the price is usually top-notch, but the features are often very important. But sometimes these features can make a car that is otherwise affordable for many consumers.
Security cameras, roof hinges and upgraded radio systems can all add up, and such features are included in trim levels that car manufacturers use to create different versions of the same car model.
Over the past 15 years, trim levels have doubled on some models. For example, the Ford F-150 pickup, for example, has a base price of around $ 28,000, but with the highest trim level, is sold for more than $ 61,000. Also, the Subaru Forester is selling for about $ 23,000, but it can increase to $ 26,000 to $ 36,000, depending on the level of costs.
Some car manufacturers offer certain features at certain levels of the device, which can leave customers like Kevin Doile with difficult choices.
"I had to buy something that I did not want to get something I did," said Doyle.
In the end, experts recommend focusing on safe security features rather than reducing levels, even if it costs more.
The results of road tests published by Consumer Reports also show key features at each trim level and the best choice.
