Volkswagen (VV) believes it is going against high-volume electric cars. By 2025, the world's largest carmaker plans to introduce more than 20 fully electric models and sell millions of electric cars annually.
– From 2020 we will get the first model, the compact car I.D. That same year, I.D. Crozz, says Anita Svanes, Communications Manager at Volkswagen and Harald A. Møller as.
With the models I.D., the VV for the first time produces fully electric cars from scratches with a new platform called MEB as a technological backbone.
The first car is similar to Golf, but with internal size like the Passat. Crozz is a four-wheel-drive SUV and an expected range of 500 km. Also, minibus ID. Buzz, a car similar to the classic VV minibus, was introduced.
Artificial intelligence
The fourth model presented in the I.D. family. is Vizzion. This starts as a future automotive with artificial intelligence and learning functions. The car will also work as a private car and a sharing vehicle.
Inside, Vizzion should have an interactive salon, it will be like a tablet on wheels, promises to the manufacturer.
It will be completely self-powered and becomes like a private driver where a digital "driver" with his safety systems takes control of the car.
The concept car drives, controls and navigates fully automatically in traffic, enabling everyone to spend time in the way they want to work, watch movies or simply relax.
Using Microsoft AR technology, Holholen, the driver should be able to use communication gears with a virtual car assistant. Voice control is also part of the system. The range is planned at 665 km according to the NEDC standard, it is stated in the review.
Electric at the peak of sales
Registration data from the Traffic Advisory Board (OFV) by September show signs that the change started.
For many years, the VV has been registering the latest cars with 14,766 vehicles. Of this, 4854 are pure electric cars and 2398 hybrid plugs, i.e. Cars that can be incorporated and used on fossil fuels. Nevertheless, VV sells most cars with conventional combustion engines – a total of 7504, with excessive gasoline.
The number two on the list is Toyota with 11,622 sales, of which 10,912 are hybrid engine technology. This system charges the electric motor with fossil fuel. Nissan is the third best-selling automotive brand, with 9350 of the 10,820 electric cars.
Also, BMV in fourth place is at full speed against electrification. Of the 8995 new registrations, there are 4000 electric cars and 3020 plug-in hybrids.
The communication director Marius Tegnebi in BMV Norvai confirms the trend.
– The i3 electric car represents one-third of sales. Many of the others are sold as a hybrid charger. By 2025, BMV is planning 25 new electric models, where 12 are fully electric. We aim to sell only cars with low emissions or low emissions in 2025. There is no doubt that this will be the way.
