British Commerce Minister Liam Fox wants even more liberal when Norway and Britain are negotiating a new free trade agreement after fighting.
The British Minister of Trade visited Minister of Industry Torbjørn Røe Isaksen (H) in London on Monday. There they talked about how trade between Norway and Great Britain would work when the British are now withdrawing from the EU.
Fok says the goal is to negotiate a new Free Trade Agreement with Norway, which can come into force on January 1, 2021, when the transition period after the breaks expires.
"We are now in the process of discussing the level of ambition to be set for this agreement. What we said from the UK is that all new contracts we enter should be at least as liberal as those we have today, Fox says to NTB.
"Our starting point is clear. It should be as good a climate for investment and trade as it is today. If anything, it will be better, says Røe Isaksen.
Fok believes that the development of the event has collapsed from the financial crisis.
"We entered a period of more protectionism. We need to try to reverse," Fox says.
