Experts now warn the drivers to check the cost of replacing their lights in order to avoid unwanted shock in the garage if struck by a waddling bulb.
HIT and high-voltage LED lights are increasingly common in vehicles with higher specifications because they are far brighter than halogen lights, but are often found in indoor units which means that individual bulbs can not be changed.

Although this study has shown that changing the traditional halogen bulb is still affordable, the cost of replacing the HID or LED headlights is significantly higher.
Owners of the Seat Ibiza SE can change their 17-pound headlamps, but those who drive the Ibiza FR Sport with higher specifications face 827 pounds.
However, while drivers with higher specifications face higher replacement costs, these are not all bad news – HID and LED lights can last up to 10 times longer than halogen bulbs.

Claire Evans, consumer editor for Vhat Car? warned motorcyclists to be aware that certain models would mean higher costs for repairing bulbs, especially if they are considering buying a new or almost new car.
She said: "The longevity of HID bulbs makes them a viable option on a new car.
"However, if you are buying a car that you use as a second vehicle for a household or as the first car for a son or daughter, you and they could be landed with a bulk bill to repair a bulb that could even make a car write off because it is uneconomical for repair. "
