WASHINGTON, Nov. 9 / PRNewsvire / – NASA's commercial partner Northrop Grumman is due to launch the Antares rocket, carrying the Cignus spacecraft to the International Space Station at 4:49 AM EST on Thursday, November 15th. , as well as pre-post and post-briefing briefings, will be screened live on NASA Television and on the Agency's website.
Built with 7,500 kilograms of research, supply of hoses and hardware, this 10th Northrop Grumman commodity supply mission launches from the Mid-Atlantic regional spaceport Virginia Space at NASA's Vallops Flight Facilitie.
About 70 minutes after the launch, the automated command will initiate the deployment of solar arrays of the spacecraft. Full application will take about 30 minutes.
The Cignus spacecraft, called SS John Ioung, arrives at the space station on Sunday, November 18th. About 4:35 in the morning, an expedition engineer 57 Serena Aunon-Chancellor of NASA will fight for a space vehicle using the robotic arm of the station. It will be supported by Alecander Gerst of ESA (European Space Agencies), which will monitor Cignus systems during its approach. After capture, ground controllers will command the robotic arm to rotate and install Cignus at the bottom of the Unity module unit.
