The Airbnb booking platform offers interesting information about tenants, farmers and the most popular places in Switzerland in the "Travel Report Switzerland 2018".
900,000 guests from over 50 countries booked accommodation in Switzerland via Airbnb over the past 12 months. They spent 98 francs a night at an average. But it's much more expensive and exclusive: the 450-square-foot penthouse in Geneva today costs 3986 francs – this is the most expensive offer of a swing-based living platform in Switzerland.
Surprisingly, every third night is reserved in the cities of Zurich, Geneva, Basel, Bern and Lausanne. Households in smaller towns and rural areas recorded a double increase as well as five cities. This is what is written in the "Travel Report Switzerland 2018" platform, which will be released today.
To be classified: Even if Airbnb hardly buys millions of dollars, the American company in Switzerland is still a small number: in 2017, according to the Federal Bureau of Statistics, 7.3 million overnight stays are reserved in the apartments.
Amis are the largest group of guests
However, the data from the Airbnb travel report is always important. 200,000 of the 900,000 guests were Swiss, the rest came from abroad, mostly from the United States (135 & # 39; 700), then from France, Germany and the United Kingdom.
The average guest who book through Airbnb in Switzerland is 38 years old. It remains on average 3.4 nights. 43 percent of guests come in a low season. Since June 2009, 2.3 million guests booked accommodation in Switzerland via Airbnb. Visitors to Spiez BE and Grindelwald BE chose the highest spots in 2018.
35 & # 39; 800 accommodations in Switzerland
And Switzerland? They are Airbnb's working users, as can be seen in the review of this report. In the last twelve months, 1.2 million Swiss Swiss were booked through the portal. From the very beginning, it's already 5.2 million.
Switzerland is still mostly private individuals who rent one of the 35,800 real estate properties on Airbnb. Most of them are women (55%), the average provider is 44 years old. Most (73%) have between 30 and 59 years.
Because of the tax in criticism
The US company has been in the critique since the beginning. Hotels and landlords require an equally long pound in terms of taxes. Private people often do not care about the rules that professional providers have to adhere to.
This is a thorn on the side of the Swiss catering industry, especially since private competitors often do not collect accommodation, so they can offer lower prices via online listing on Airbnb. In the meantime, Airbnb has reached an agreement with four cantons – Zurich, Basel-Stadt, Basel-Landschaft and Zug.
