GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas fans are using Steam reviews to encourage people to buy the originals before Rockstar removes them next week

This week, Rockstar revealed the worst-kept secret in the games: remasters of Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City and San Andreas.

With that, Rockstar confirmed its plan to remove the originals from all digital vendors on computers and consoles from next week, replacing them with Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogi – The Definitive Edition on more shop windows.

The decision to remove these classics is a blow to the preservation of video games and obviously bad for the choice of players, but it seems unlikely that Rockstar will withdraw from this – not soon anyway.

Let’s play Grand Theft Auto 3 – Late To The Party.

And so fans gathered on Steam reviews to suggest people buy the originals now before they lose the opportunity – potentially forever.

“Make sure your ass has a trilogy before it’s taken down from Steam,” Pink Diamond wrote in a review of Steam’s GTA 3.

“Buy this before it is removed from the list next week,” GrunkleBran said in a revision of Vice City Steam.

“Buy it before you remove it,” the park said in a review by San Andreas Steam.

Fans who already own the games also use Steam reviews to say goodbye. One of the Steam users with an incredible 2780 hours of filming with San Andreas stood out:

“I have to say that with all the time I’ve invested in this game I’m running fast, modifying and more that this is the best I’ve ever played in a GTA game, this game means a lot to me with a great story, a good world and tons of things to do do and find. “

“Goodbye, old friend,” Steam user Dime wrote in a GTA 3 review. “Rockstar will remove you from Steam to make a definitive release for them. Thanks for the memories …”

GTA 3 is 20 years old, Vice City is 19 years old, and San Andreas is 17 years old. The versions of games that are now available for download on Steam, PlayStation Store and Xbox Marketplace are not real originals. For example, the San Andreas version available for purchase at the Xbox download store is the Xbox 360 version that can be played on Xbox One and Xbox Series X and S via backward compatibility. The version of Vice City available for download on the PlayStation Store is the PlayStation 2 version converted to work on the PlayStation 4. To get a real original experience, you will need a PS2 and a physical copy of each game, and nothing else Rockstar does for weeks can prevent people from going via eBay.

The Rockstar announcement states that Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition will be available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Rockstar Games Launcher. Steam is not specifically mentioned, which suggests that the originals will be removed from the Valve platform and replaced with nothing.

Rockstar has warned that previous versions and packages of these games will be removed from digital retailers from Sunday, October 11th. We don’t know the exact date when they will be removed, but if you are interested in owning them, today is the last day to buy them digitally.

Of course, anyone who has purchased any of the previous versions will still be able to download and play them on their respective shopping platforms after removal from the list.
