Telefonica, which has reached an agreement with IBM, will now be able to track in real time the truthfulness and traceability of calls, mainly of origin, destination and duration, through a decentralized platform.

Gonzalo Martin-Villa, Director of the Global Innovation Directorate of Telefonica, said the company is interested in improving its integration with its partners.

"We believe that the paradigm of decentralization of the process that facilitates blocking fits well into the telecommunications sector and can help us improve the way we traditionally integrate with our partners," said Martin-Villa.

Telefonica and IBM have agreed to cooperate in order to optimize communication business processes through the use of blockchain technology.

The project aims to increase the confidence and transparency of information provided by operators involved in streamlining international calls.

"Blockchain will allow operators to generate a new level of trust in the Internet, based not only on organizations that generate data and transactions, but on the data itself," the director said.

Ignacio Martin Santos, general manager at Telefonica's account at IBM, said "blockchain can help telecom companies optimize internal processes or, as in the case of a project that we have developed with Telefonica, to generate greater trust among different sector partners, thereby avoiding the process of aligning call information and other benefits such as lower risk, time management and lower costs.
