The Paraguayan health authorities today they have called citizenship to carry out preventive controls on cases colon cancer and they have exactly doubled over the last seven years.
According to the statistical department of the National Institute Cancer (Incan), in 2011, 60 cases of colon cancer and 63 cases of cancer of the rectal and anal canal were reported.
Six years later, in 2017, the number of registered cases was closed, according to the sources of the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare (MspiBs) 112 new cases of colon cancer and 126 cancers of the rectum and anal canal.
Predefined factors are family history cancer, obesity and clean meat nutrition, in particular sausages and pork products, explained the head of the digestive endoscopy MspB and the director of the Program for the prevention of colorectal neoplasms, Gustavo Campos.
In this regard, he stressed that the most important thing is prevention, which involves regular consultations with the doctor.
The colorectal program covers the health units of the family of the Central Department and consists of a test that can detect occult blood in faeces, he said.
He said that the service is free and that it is intended for men and women between the ages of 50 and 75, without symptoms and without the family history of colorectal cancer.
